Exhibition on “Challenges and Opportunities for Social Democracy” launched in Sri Lanka

Elements of Social Democracy are discussed by different actors in the Sri Lankan society and are accepted as need to be rooted in the political framework, customs, laws, religions in the re-established state of Sri Lanka. The imagination of the Sri Lankan society is reawakened through examples of social democracy from Germany.  The exhibition, depicting the evolution of  the German Social Democratic Party, hopes to rekindle ideas and aspirations for change through collective action of all actors in Sri Lankan society.

“For Freedom and Social Justice” Photo Exhibit Successfully Launched in Manila

The Exhibition entitled “For Freedom and Social Justice” was successfully launched by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) Manila on 23 May 2009, at the Discovery Suites, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

Invited guests were able to view the 32 panels which chronicle the history of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) of Germany, from its inception in mid-19th century, until the formulation of its most recent programme in Hamburg in 2007. The launch was even made special with the presence of 4283_82908057922_616827922_1915497_1082844_ntwo distinguished guests, Mr. Wolf Preuss and Prof. RAndy David, who gave their reflections on the realities and potentials of membership-based and program–based political parties both in Germany and the Philippines. An open discussion followed, which was moderated by renowned columnist and TV host Manuel Quezon III.

Exhibition on History of Social Democracy

In cooperation with FES Indonesia, INDEPOLIS is going to hold an exhibition on the history of Social Democracy Movement in Germany since the 19th Century.
The exhibition is meant to be

  • A chance for younger generations to get familiar with the idea of social democratic movement.
  • A possibility to learn from the history of German social democratic movement.
  • A chance to learn how a political party is working

It is a long-term project which is starting this year (after elections) and will end in 2014. It will take place in approximately 25 cities in Indonesia.
